Accessible Prescription Drug Labels
In 2024, the Minnesota Legislature passed a new law requiring all pharmacies to make accessible prescription drug labels—including large print or Braille labels—available at no additional cost by January 1, 2026. Until then, if a pharmacy does not yet have the technological capacity to provide an accessible label, the pharmacy is required to direct patients to a list of pharmacies capable of providing accessible prescription drug labels.
The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) conducted a survey of all pharmacies to identify their current capacity to provide accessible prescription drug container labels. MDH compiled the following list of pharmacies based on the results of this survey. This list will be updated on a quarterly basis throughout 2025.
MDH will also issue a report assessing the cost and options for providing audible prescription drug labels (Minnesota Laws of 2024, chapter 127, article 60, sections 10 and 24). The report will be posted on this page.
