Spoken Language Health Care Interpreter Roster
The Spoken Language Health Care Interpreter Roster is a statewide, voluntary roster of spoken-language interpreters who help ensure that all Minnesotans have equal access to health care, regardless of their primary language. The Commissioner of Health maintains the roster in accordance with Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 144.058.
Consumers and providers can use the roster to search for interpreters by language and geographic area, and some insurance providers require an interpreter to be listed on the roster in order to bill for services.
The results of the search list the name, contact information, and roster expiration dates of spoken language interpreters who have applied to be on the roster. Interpreters can provide the health care subject areas and specialty settings in which they may have work experience, as well as the agency they work with.
Please note that the Minnesota Department of Health is not authorized to verify information provided by spoken language health care interpreters.
Announcements
The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) is working to transition licensing activities to a new electronic licensing system that makes it easier for providers to manage, update, and renew their license information.
Today, we are excited to announce that the Spoken Language Health Care Interpreter Roster (HCIR) has moved to the new system. The website has been updated with links for interpreters to manage their registration and a new page for consumers to search the roster.
I’m an interpreter on the roster – what do I need to do?
For interpreters who are currently on the roster, MDH is transferring their information to the new system and creating an account. Interpreters will receive an email from MDH@public.govdelivery.com with the subject line Claim your account on the new Health Care Interpreter Roster and instructions for setting up their account. You will need to create an account in order to update your roster information and renew your registration.
We encourage you to set up your account as soon as possible to so that you receive a reminder when your registration is due for renewal. If you haven’t claimed your account prior to your registration expiration, you will not receive the reminder messages. Providers who do not renew their registration will have their names removed from the roster.
If you have questions or need assistance, please contact the Health Care Interpreter Roster team at Health.HCI@state.mn.us or call 651-201-4200.
