Tuberculosis Prevention and Control Regulations: Supervised Living Facilities
MDH Information Bulletin 09-05 is obsolete.
Purpose: To inform each licensed Minnesota supervised living facilities of the 2013 Minnesota Statutes that require licensees to follow current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) tuberculosis infection control guidelines. The 2013 statute is consistent with the “TB Waiver” that was established in Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Information Bulletin 09-05 (Tuberculosis Prevention and Control Guidelines: Supervised Living Facilities) in 2009. This bulletin replaces Information Bulletin 09-05.
MDH will enforce:
Sec. 5. Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 144.50, Subd. 6a Effective Aug. 1, 2013
Subd. 6a. Supervised living facility; tuberculosis prevention and control.
- A supervised living facility must establish and maintain a comprehensive tuberculosis
infection control program according to the most current tuberculosis infection control guidelines issued by the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Division of Tuberculosis Elimination, as published in CDC's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR). This program must include a tuberculosis infection control plan that covers all paid and unpaid employees, contractors, students, and volunteers. The Department of Health shall provide technical assistance regarding implementation of the guidelines.
(b) Written compliance with this subdivision must be maintained by the supervised living facility.
