About the Arthritis Program
Mission
Improving care and quality of life for people who have arthritis.
Vision
That all people in Minnesota with arthritis can access care and self-management programs to reduce symptoms and live well.
Serving Minnesota
The MDH Arthritis Program serves Minnesotans by:
- Analyzing data that describes the impact of arthritis in Minnesota.
- Building partnerships with local, clinical and statewide organizations to reduce the burden of arthritis by strengthening clinical care and self-management programs.
- Promote walking and physical activity to help manage arthritis.
- Providing information and educational tools necessary for people to successfully manage their arthritis.
- Understanding and working with communities to build inclusive, safe environments so those with arthritis can be physically active.
Partners
The MDH Arthritis Program is working to establish partners across the state from healthcare systems, local public health, parks and recreation departments, businesses, nonprofit organizations and communities with the goal of improving the quality of life for people with arthritis. The MDH Arthritis Program works to foster communication and collaboration with existing partners and looks for opportunities to establish new connections and partners statewide.
Funding
In 2018, MDH was one of 15 states awarded with 5 years of funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to implement state-based approaches to improve arthritis management and quality of life for adults with arthritis.
