Cyclosporiasis Statistics

There were 68 Cyclospora cases reported in 2025 (1.19 per 100,000 population). This is similar to the number of cases reported from 2015 to 2024 (median, 70; range, 4 to 156 per year). In 2025, 47% of cases occurred in people who resided in the Twin Cities metro. The median age of cases was 45 years (range, 1 to 88 years). Fifty-eight percent were female. Of the 65 cases for which race was reported, 54 (83%) were white, five (8%) were Black, three (5%) were Asian, and three (5%) reported other or multiple races. Of the 66 cases for which ethnicity was reported, four (6%) were Hispanic. Nine percent were hospitalized; the median length of hospitalization was 5 days (range, 2 to 14 days). Eighty-seven percent of infections occurred during June through August. Fifty-one percent of non-outbreak cases reported travel outside the United States during the 2 weeks prior to illness onset.

No confirmed outbreaks of cyclosporiasis were identified in Minnesota in 2025.
