Food Safety Alerts and Food Recalls

Food Recalls

A food recall is a voluntary action by a manufacturer or distributor to protect the public from products that may cause health problems or possible death. The purpose of a recall is to remove products from commerce when there is reason to believe it may be adulterated (injurious to health or unfit for human consumption) or misbranded (false or misleading labeling and/or packaging).

  • MDA: Food Recalls in Minnesota
The Minnesota Department of Agriculture helps ensure your food is produced and sold in a safe manner. MDA also provides information to consumers on proper handling and preparation of foods to help you avoid food borne illnesses.

  • FDA: Recalls, Market Withdrawals and Safety Alerts

  • Food Safety and Inspection Service: Recalls (Meat, Poultry & Egg Products)
Meat, poultry and egg products involved in recalls, both in open and closed federal cases.
