HealthEquityGuide.org

Human Impact Partners

HealthEquityGuide.org is a website that identifies a set of practices for advancing equity, provides examples of health departments using those practices, and suggests actions and additional resources for health departments to advance health equity.

This website is organized around a set of practices that health departments across the United States have used to advance health equity. The site explains 15 strategic practices in detail, and supports each with case studies and recommended action steps.

The case studies describe what the health department did, identify what factors helped the health department do the work, and share advice the health department's advice for others. You can view the case studies alphabetically by health department or by practice.

The website also includes a database of resources for health departments to advance these strategic practices. You can search these resources by strategic practice, by type of resource, or by topic.

When to use

The authors indicated that HealthEquityGuide.org is not intended to be a step-by-step manual, but rather a resource for health departments who are prioritizing health equity and are looking for information on how to be forward.

You can use different sections of HealthEquityGuide.org for multiple purposes, including:

  • Reviewing the strategic practices can help agencies identify one priority area to work on and specific action steps. Agencies who are just starting their work, or agencies who are looking for more advanced strategies, would find this useful.
  • Use case studies to look for details about how others have adopted these practices. The case studies link to resources used and resources developed, including health equity policies, a health equity dashboard, job descriptions, health equity assessments, and more.
  • Use case studies as a way to show staff, decision-makers, and community members that specific actions can be successful.
  • Find resources that focus on equity, including resources that featured case study health departments have found to be helpful.

Use each section's drop-down menu to narrow down options as you browse.
