SEAL Minnesota
About
SEAL Minnesota is an initiative to coordinate and expand evidence-based school sealant programs across the state. This initiative aims to increase access to high-quality oral health services and reduce oral health disparities through stakeholder engagement and alignment.
The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Oral Health Program developed SEAL Minnesota with input and collaboration from various dental and public health partners across the state.
Activities
SEAL Minnesota focuses on strengthening school-based dental sealant programming through coordinated partnership and collaboration. This includes sharing resources, information, and data. To support this work, SEAL Minnesota provides funds, technical assistance, and networking opportunities to school sealant providers throughout the state.
Grants
Through a cooperative agreement between Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), SEAL Minnesota supports school sealant programs to deliver dental sealants, oral health education and other oral health services to children in school settings.

Technical assistance
The Oral Health Program provides ad-hoc trainings, webinars or calls to support school sealant programs throughout the state. If you are a School Sealant Program provider seeking technical support or assistance with implementation, data collection and reporting, or evaluation, please reach out to the MDH Oral Health Program.
Data sharing
MDH works with partners to gather data on school sealant service use. Data is used to understand needs, gaps, opportunities, and impact of this work across the state. It also helps providers to understand their performance and the effectiveness of their services provided to the communities.
If you are interested in reporting data, please contact Bilquis.Khan@state.mn.us.
Networking and partnership
SEAL Minnesota meetings, calls, and forums provide dental public health professionals the opportunity to network and learn from one another. In past forums, MDH has offered sealant calibration training, shared insights and provided updates on evidence-based strategies, Minnesota oral health data, and dental and public health best practices.
