Minnesota Study of Behavioral Health Discharge Delays
Emergency Departments and Inpatient Hospital Beds
The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and Wilder Research conducted a study between September 5, 2023, and October 20, 2023, to measure the volume and reasons for behavioral health transfer and discharge delays for emergency departments and inpatient units.
The study focused on quantifying service needs—both inside and outside of hospitals in surrounding communities. View the study's findings in the Transfer and Discharge Delays for Behavioral Health Patients at Minnesota Hospitals (PDF) report.
