County Health Tables
The MDH Center for Health Statistics is transitioning to a digital dashboard for county health table data from 2019-2023. MDH will explore adding reports from before 2019 as time allows.
Due to staffing and resources, during this transition the Center for Health Statistics can only provide select Minnesota vital statistics tables from the county health tables and will not recreate the entirety of the report(s). Please contact the Center for Health Statistics for a list of tables/calculations available in previous reporting.
Timeline: Dashboards
- 2021-2023: Online in dashboard format by the first quarter of 2025
- 2019-2020: Online in dashboard format later in 2025
- 2022: Please contact the Center for Health Statistics for data from 2022
About the county health tables
The county health tables are a compilation of public health statistics for residents of the state of Minnesota, its 87 counties, and its community health boards (what is a community health board?). Beginning in 2017, data for the five metro area city-specific community health boards (Bloomington, Edina, Minneapolis, Richfield, and St. Paul) are also included, where available. This report includes the following types of data for Minnesota residents by state, county, and community health board:
- Births (e.g., characteristics of mothers, teen births, prenatal care utilization, birth outcomes)
- Deaths (e.g., death counts and rates by age and leading cause of death, age-adjusted rates for leading causes and for premature deaths)
Note: County health tables documents reflect the year of the data, not the year the report was published.
MDH published county health tables biennially beginning in 1996, and annually beginning in 2003. For data prior to those listed above, contact the Center for Health Statistics (health.healthstats@state.mn.us).
