EPR Mission/Vision
Mission
The mission of the Emergency Preparedness & Response division is to strengthen response systems to minimize death, disability and suffering from health emergencies.
To accomplish this mission, we will:
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to protect the health of Minnesotans in emergencies;
- Establish baseline response expectations and reporting mechanisms to assure response readiness;
- Measure and evaluate response and recovery effectiveness, identify program gaps, and implement improvement actions;
- Assure capacity to manage communication before, during, and after a health emergency;
- Plan, implement, and manage programs that include training and exercises to enhance the efforts of health responders to prevent death and disability in emergencies; and
- Develop and manage systems to support the effective use of MDH staff and health volunteers in an emergency.
Vision
All public health and health care partners will have the knowledge, plans, and tools to respond to public health emergencies.
