X-ray Screening Information

A specific application and approval from Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) is required for Computed Tomography (CT) self-referral imaging. MDH reviews CT self-referral screening applications in three different areas: Cardiac, Colon or Lung. The applicant must meet the requirements in Chapter 4732 and must be registered with the Commissioner before an application is initiated and examinations are performed. CT self-referral screening must not be performed without MDH approval.

MDH does not endorse CT self-referral examinations. Instead MDH recommends you see a physician for evaluation. The physician will identify the appropriate diagnostic imaging according to your family history and symptoms.

Computed Tomography (CT) self-referral applications

CT self-referral applications are approved according to Chapter 4732.0565. Currently, there is no fee for CT self-referral applications submittals. Registrants are required to resubmit an application annually. Prior to implementing any modifications to the approved CT self-referral program, the applicant is required to inform and receive consent from the Commissioner of any proposed changes.
