Burn care resources are limited and highly specialized. During a mass casualty incident with large numbers of burn patients, the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) recognizes additional resources may be needed to expand the ability to provide burn care stabilization.

Statewide capacity is reached by partnering with our Burn Centers, eight Regional Health Care Coalitions, 13 hospitals serving as Burn Surge Facilities and our national partners through American Burn Association Midwest Region and Department of Health and Human Services Region V Great Lakes Healthcare Partnership.

Burn surge educational materials have been developed and intended for healthcare providers and local, regional and state mass casualty burn surge incident responders.
