Protect your health by using antibiotics only when needed
Step into the Eco Experience Building at the Minnesota State Fair (August 22 – September 2) and explore the world of antibiotic stewardship at the Minnesota One Health Antibiotic Stewardship Collaborative (MOHASC) booth.
Engage with experts from diverse fields, including medicine, public health, animal health, and environmental health, as they share their insights on antibiotic use, antibiotic resistance, and the environmental impacts of these life-saving drugs.
Fair attendees can join this important cause and show their commitment to responsible antibiotic use:
- Sign an antibiotic stewardship pledge
- Participate in our engagement question activity
- Proudly display a "Superheroes Fight Superbugs" temporary tattoo
Pro tips:
- Our booth is on the north side of the building by the big garage door and next to the giant bagnado!
- Pick up a bingo card at the information desk, interact with the booths in the Eco Experience building, and win a fun prize when you get a BINGO!
Steps to prevent antibiotic resistance
- Prevent infections through handwashing, vaccination, and food safety.
- Recognize that antibiotics do not work for viral infections like cold or flu.
- Ask your health care provider how you can get symptom relief without antibiotics.
- Tell your health care provider and veterinarian that you are concerned about resistance.
- Never pressure your health care provider or veterinarian to prescribe antibiotics.
- Take antibiotics exactly as prescribed, and never take antibiotics prescribed for someone else.
- Never save antibiotics for the next time you or your pet gets sick.
- Properly dispose of leftover medications at a take back box. Do not throw them away or flush them down the toilet or drain.
Help us promote the “Antibiotics Only When Needed (O.W.N.)” message in your community. Talk to your friends, family, coworkers, and more about this important issue.
