Hospital and Provider Data
HCCIS
Hospital and Provider Data—also referred to as The Minnesota Health Care Cost Information System (HCCIS), established in 1984— provides accurate and reliable information about the financial, utilization, and service characteristics of hospitals and freestanding outpatient surgical centers in Minnesota. In 2003, diagnostic imaging facilities were added to this data collection effort. The financial and statistical data are used to inform public policy decisions, analyze health care cost and utilization trends, and assist facilities in comparing and understanding their financial, utilization, and services information within the health care marketplace.
Data collection
MDH collects data from entities through annual reports: Hospitals through the Hospital Annual Report (HAR), Freestanding Outpatient Surgical Centers (FOSCs) through the FOSC Annual Report, and Diagnostic Imaging Facilities through the Diagnostic Imaging Facility-Utilization Data Annual Report.
Capital Expenditures are reported within this data collection effort.
