Pediatric Surge Videos

In 2017, educational gaps were identified by the health care workers across the state in pediatrics. To help close these gaps pediatric experts created six educational modules below. They can be viewed independently of one another.

Special thanks to all participants and iDream.tv for the production of these videos.

  • Pediatric Surge Module 1: Trauma (YouTube: 22:26 minutes) | (PowerPoint)
This module reviews pediatric focused trauma in the mass casualty setting.

  • Pediatric Surge Module 2: Triage and Decontamination (YouTube: 11:41 minutes) | (PowerPoint)
This module was designed to help health care providers think of unique issues that may happen when triaging or decontaminating a large number of pediatric patients.

  • Pediatric Surge Module 3: Non-Traumatic Disaster (YouTube: 17:45 minutes) | (PowerPoint)
This module highlights distinct and vital characteristics of pediatric patients affected by a non-traumatic incident resulting in a large number of pediatric patients.

  • Pediatric Surge Module 4: Crisis Standards of Care (YouTube: 8:04 minutes) | (PowerPoint)
This module was designed to highlight pediatric needs during a crisis standards of care situation.

  • Pediatric Surge Module 5: Children with Special Needs (YouTube: 26:39 minutes) | (PowerPoint)
This module was designed to help providers and health care workers become more familiar with the challenges that may present when caring for children with special needs.

  • Pediatric Surge Module 6: Operations and Incident Management (YouTube: 21:12 minutes) | (PowerPoint)
This module was designed to help health care providers and facility emergency managers think of the special circumstances in regards to the operationalizing of surge plans, activation of incident command, resources available, and the utilization of a family assistance center. Upon completion of this module, participants are encouraged to examine their facilities plans and identify any gaps or areas where considerations need to be made with regards to caring for pediatric patients.
