About the Occupational Health Program
Health happens where we live, work, and play, and Minnesotans spend a significant amount of time at work. Supporting a healthy work environment is critical for maintaining and improving the health of Minnesotans.
The Center for Occupational Health and Safety is dedicated to improving the health and safety of workers in Minnesota. We track critical data, build strong partnership with state and national organizations, and support strategies to understand and prevent workplace injuries and illnesses.
Gathering and sharing information
The first step is understanding the safety and health issues that stem from work. The Center for Occupational Health and Safety analyzes and shares data to understand what health issues Minnesota workers are experiencing. This information is then shared with:
- Partner organizations that aim to improve worker health and safety.
- Industry leadership and employers.
- Local, state and national governments.
By tracking injuries and illnesses, we can understand their long-term effects on workers and who is affected to help organizations, industries, and governments support Minnesota’s workforce through interventions, laws, and policies.
Data provided
The Center for Occupational Health and Safety provides data on:
- Minnesota employment demographics
- Work related injury and Illnesses.
- Occupational respiratory health and blood lead poisoning.
Occasionally, the Center for Occupational Health and Safety will work on special projects to address emerging concerns, like COVID-19 in essential workers.
