Breakout Session Request for Proposal: Partners in Public Health Conference
We are looking for a mix of 60- and 75-minute presentations that will enhance the knowledge, skills, and abilities of those working in governmental public health across Minnesota.
The request for proposals closed on Aug. 8, 2024.
Applicants will be notified of selection decisions in early September.
This is an in-person-only conference, and we expect presentations to be in person as well.

What are we looking for in breakout presentations?
Generally, presentations should:
- Be either 60 or 75 minutes long.
- Impart new information.
- Share promising strategies and best practices.
- Depict creative programs and services.
- Demonstrate innovative ideas and solutions.
- Make significant contributions to professional development for state and local public health leaders.
- Address issues of health equity across all tracks.
- Highlight success – recognizing innovation and celebrating practices that are working.
- Include the voices of community partners, Tribal partners, and those with lived experience.
Breakout Session Tracks
With the theme of Transforming our system together for a healthy Minnesota, we are particularly interested in workshops and presentations that fall into one of the conference’s four tracks.
Workforce Issues and Leadership Development, such as:
- Communicating effectively as a leader
- Staffing: Employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention
- Addressing and avoiding burnout and resiliency
- Conflict management
- Boundary setting
Communications, such as:
- Effective messaging - both internally within organizations and externally to the public
- Communication strategies, campaigns, and best practices
- Communicating with diverse audiences
Working in partnership, such as:
- Highlighting innovative or nontraditional public health partnerships
- Building relationships with disadvantaged populations
- Working with community partners
- Coalition building
- Addressing and avoiding burnout and resiliency
- Conflict management
- Boundary setting
Public Health System Transformation, such as:
- Developments in data collection and use
- Understanding and communicating about system transformation
- Innovative approaches to Foundational Public Health Responsibilities
