Congenital CMV (cCMV) Resources for Professionals

As Minnesota is the first state in the country to include universal newborn screening for congenital cytomegalovirus (cCMV), health care professionals statewide will be handling newborn screening results and management/care issues not faced by anyone else before. These resources are provided to make those first steps better informed and to help health care staff and administration feel confident in their care.

As every new disorder is added to population-based screening, we learn more about the disorder and often find increased numbers of mildly affected infants who were not previously recognized. The MDH Public Health Laboratory has made a strong commitment to sharing data about infants identified with cCMV in order to allow clinicians to offer the best care possible.
