Public Pool Operator Training

Public pools must have a certified trained operator. The certified trained operator must successfully complete a training course at least once every five years. A copy of the operator’s training certificate must be posted at the public pool.

Minnesota pool code operator training

  • Minnesota Rules, part 4717.0650

Training courses

  • The Pool and Hot Tub Alliance Certified Pool Operator course.
  • The Pool and Hot Tub Alliance Certified Service Technician (CST), Certified Maintenance Specialist (CMS) and Certified Hot Tub Technician (CHTT) courses. 
    Both CST and CMS are required for operation of pools. CHTT is required for operation of spas and hot tubs
  • The National Recreation and Park Association Aquatic Facility Operator course.
  • The Aquatic Training Institute Certified Pool Technician course.
  • The Starfish Aquatics Institute AquaTech course.
