Who is eligible to be nominated?
Eligibility varies by award. Please refer to the specific eligibility criteria listed on each award description and nomination form.
Can someone nominate themselves?
Yes. Self-nominations are permitted.
Can an individual be nominated for more than one award?
Yes. However, a separate nomination form must be submitted for each award category.
Can a team, organization, or partnership be nominated?
Some awards are intended for individuals, while others recognize teams, organizations, partnerships, or collaborative efforts. Please review the eligibility criteria for the specific award before submitting a nomination.
What information should be included in a strong nomination?
Strong nominations provide specific examples that demonstrate how the nominee meets the award criteria. Nominators are encouraged to describe the nominee's accomplishments, impact, leadership, partnerships, innovation, or other relevant contributions, depending on the award category.
What if I don't have information for every question on the form?
Nominators should provide as much information as possible. More complete nominations generally provide reviewers with a better understanding of the nominee's qualifications.
What happens after nominations close?
Nominations will be reviewed by the Minnesota Public Health Impact Awards Selection Committee or the Lou Fuller Award Selection Committee using a standardized scoring process.
Will nominators be notified of the outcome?
Award recipients will be notified directly before the awards are presented. Nominators will be notified whether their nominee was selected to receive an award after recipients have been notified and confirmed. Nominees who are not selected will not receive individual notification.
Who should I contact if I have questions about the nomination process?
If you have any questions, please reach out to Melissa Michels at melissa.michels@state.mn.us
How are conflicts of interest handled by the Selection Committee?
Selection Committee members are required to disclose any conflicts of interest related to a nominee. Committee members with a conflict of interest will not participate in scoring nominations for that award.
Are nomination materials confidential?
Yes. Nomination materials will be treated as confidential and shared only with Selection Committee members and staff supporting the awards process. Committee members are expected to maintain confidentiality of all nomination materials and discussions throughout the review and selection process.
What is the timeline for nomination review and award announcements?
Nominations will close on August 14th. Following the nomination period, submissions will be compiled and shared with Selection Committee members for independent review and scoring. The committee will then meet to discuss the results and finalize award recipients in early September. Award recipients will be notified by the end of September.
