Increasing Cancer Screening in Southwest Minnesota
The Sage Screening Program is working with partners to spread the word about the importance of early detection and regular screening of breast cancer in Southwest Minnesota. A local media campaign will run from August through October 2024.
Southwest Minnesota has higher breast cancer mortality rates (23.4 deaths per 100,000 people) than other parts of the state. The Healthy People 2030 goal is 15.3 deaths per 100,000 people. Other regions also have rates above this goal: Northwestern (15.3), Northeastern (17.3), West Central (16.5), Central (17.7), Metro (18.3), South Central (16.0), Southeastern (16.9).

Mammograms save lives! Schedule yours today.
The Minnesota Department of Health Sage Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program is partnering with local organizations in Southwest Minnesota to spread the word about the importance of early and regular breast cancer screening. Mammograms can help detect breast cancer early, when it is easier to treat.
Health care partners in the area came together with Sage to act after recognizing that residents of Southwest Minnesota are more likely to die from a breast cancer diagnosis than those in other regions of the state.
The Sage Program offers free screenings at several participating southwest Minnesota clinics for Minnesotans who meet eligibility requirements. Sage will pay for breast cancer screening for individuals ages 40-64. Those ages 30-39 may be eligible for Sage services if they have a breast symptom(s) or have a family history of breast cancer (self, parent, child).
Learn more about the Sage Program and eligibility for free services: Get Screened--Sage Cancer Screenings (mnsage.com).
To schedule an appointment at a clinic near you, call the Sage Program at 1-888-643-2584 and mention code SW1.
