Mortuary Science
Establishment Licensing

We are pleased to announce the implementation of e-licensing for new initial applications for mortuary science establishments in Minnesota, effective May 22. This includes applications for licenses to operate the following types of establishments:

  • Funeral Establishments
  • Crematories
  • Alkaline Hydrolysis
  • Natural Organic Reduction

Please note that this e-licensing rollout applies only to new applications for initial licensure to operate a mortuary science establishment.

This update does not impact existing licensees who are currently undergoing establishment renewal processes. Renewal applications will continue to be processed through the existing system (ICSD) until further notice.

If you have questions, please contact health.mortsci@state.mn.us or call 651-201-4200.

Initial application

License to Operate a Mortuary Science Establishment — Initial application of alkaline hydrolysis, funeral, crematory, or natural organic reduction establishments. This includes a change of establishment ownership.

For assistance with the e-licensing system visit Minnesota Department of Health Licensing System Help page.
