Cranberry Punch

  • 2 cans (12 oz. each) frozen cranberry apple juice (prepared according to package directions) OR 2 bottles (48 fluid oz. each) cranberry apple juice
  • 10 whole cloves
  • 6 cinnamon sticks, broken
  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced and seeds removed

Place all ingredients in a large pan.

Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and boil gently for 10 minutes.

Remove and discard spices and lemon. Serve warm.

Tip: Save money on spices by shopping for them in the bulk foods section or at a natural foods store.

Fruit Juice Spritzer

  • 2 cups fruit juice (look for 100% natural juice)
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice OR 4 slices lemon
  • 2 cups sparkling water OR club soda

hand printCombine fruit juice and lemon juice in a pitcher.

Slowly pour sparkling water or club soda down the inside of the pitcher.

Stir gently. Serve over ice.

Servings: 4

Tip: Try this fizzy drink instead of soda pop for a healthier choice.

Fruit Slush Shake

  • 1/2 - 3/4 cup frozen fruit
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla
  • 1 - 2 tsp sugar OR honey

hand printPlace all ingredients in a blender pitcher.

Blend until smooth.

Servings: 1

Tip: Put bruised or slightly overripe fruit in the freezer so it will be ready for Fruit Slush Shake.

Hot Chocolate Mix

  • 5 and 1/3 cups nonfat dry milk
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 ounces (3/4 cup) powdered coffee creamer (choose your favorite flavor)
  • 1 pound (2 and 1/2 cups) powdered chocolate milk flavoring

To prepare:
hand printStir all ingredients together in a large bowl, mixing well.

Store in an airtight container.

Prepare hot chocolate by placing 1/3 cup mix in a mug or cup. Add 1 cup boiling water and stir. Let cool to drinking temperature.

Servings: 20

Suggestion: Put 1/3 cup mix, a plastic spoon and small marshmallows into plastic baggies for gifts!

Orange Julius

  • 1 can (6 oz.) frozen orange juice concentrate OR other type of juice
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 10 ice cubes

For a variation, add: 1 tsp vanilla

Blend until frothy.

Servings: 4

Tip: Try different types of juice in this recipe - you can use strawberry, raspberry, lime and other flavors!

Purple Cow

  • 1/4 cup grape juice
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 banana, peeled and sliced

Blend until smooth.

Note: Purple Cow is a quick, nutritious morning choice for those "on-the-go".

Smoothies

  • 1 cup (8 oz.) yogurt OR milk OR soy beverage
  • 1 1/2 cups frozen fruit (any combination)
  • 1/2 - 1 cup ice cubes
  • 1 cup your choice juice

For a variation, add: 2 Tbsp ground flax seed

hand printPlace yogurt, fruit and ice cubes in a blender or food processor.

Blend until smooth. Eat smoothie thick with a spoon or add juice to make it thin enough to drink.

Servings: 2

Serving idea: Strawberry-banana smoothies are a favorite, but many flavor combinations go well together.

Tip: Put slightly overripe fruit in the freezer to have on hand for smoothies.
