Indoor Air Training for Professionals

The MDH Indoor Air Unit offers free classes and presentations on indoor air hazards. Most classes offer continuing education credits (CE). Classes are taught in-person, live online, or on-demand online. To schedule in-person or live online classes, contact the Indoor Air Unit. Presentations or classes for other audiences could also be arranged. 

Radon (Real Estate)
1.5 hours CE for real estate licensees (in-person)

Topics: health concerns, how radon enters buildings, testing, radon reduction, laws (disclosure, radon resistant new construction, radon professional licensure)

Mold (Real Estate)
1 hour CE for real estate licensees (in-person)

Topics: potential health effects, moisture problems, methods to identify mold, remediation guidelines

Carbon Monoxide (Real Estate)
1 hour CE for real estate licensees (in-person)

Topics: causes of elevated indoor carbon monoxide, health effects, signs of problems, preventing problems, alarms

Healthy Homes (Childcare)
2 hours CE for family childcare providers, 'Develop' approved (in-person or on-demand online)

Topics: radon, mold, carbon monoxide, drinking water (including private well water)

Type 'healthy homes' in the course title field. Scroll down to find the Healthy Homes for Childcare, 'Virtual Self-Paced' class (check the 'event details' to confirm it's the MDH class).

1.5 hours CE for builders, building officials, plumbers (in-person or live online)

Topics: health concerns, how radon enters buildings, testing, radon reduction, laws (disclosure, radon resistant new construction, radon professional licensure)

Healthy Homes Overview (Public Health, Housing, Non-Profits)
1-3 hours CE can be arranged for public health nurses and sanitarians (in-person or live online)

Topics: radon, pests, injuries, drinking water, carbon monoxide, asthma triggers, chemicals, mold, lead, asbestos

Mold Workshop (Public Health, Housing, Non-Profits)
1-2 hours CE can be arranged for public health nurses and sanitarians (in-person or live online)

Topics: indoor mold, responding to complaints and inquires, policy considerations

Radon Workshop (Public Health, Housing, Non-Profits)
2 hours CE can be arranged for public health nurses and sanitarians (in-person or live online)

Topics: radon testing, mitigation, education, research, data, projects, laws, collaborations
