Newcomer Education for Wellness (NEW) Video Series

The Minnesota Center of Excellence in Newcomer Health aims to provide useful, accessible translated health education videos to newcomers. 

Each video is available in the following languages: Arabic, Burmese, Dari, English, French, Haitian Creole, Karen, Pashto, Somali, Spanish, and Swahili.

These educational videos are for general knowledge and informational purposes only. They do not give medical advice. Always talk to your doctor or other health care professional for advice or questions you have about your health. 

Sign up for alerts

Subscribers will receive periodic two-minute health education videos at least once a month. Subscribers may be asked to provide feedback in a survey. If you are interested in receiving these health education videos, please complete the form:

COE Newcomer Education for Wellness (NEW)

The Minnesota Center of Excellence in Newcomer Health at the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) requests your preferred language and telephone phone number to periodically send you health education videos. Your telephone number is classified as private data under Minnesota Statues, section 13.356. Your private data will be accessible only by MDH staff, technology support staff members, or entities authorized by state or federal law to access the data. The information may also be shared upon court order or provided to the state or legislative auditor upon request.

Providing this information is voluntary.  If you do not wish to enter your phone number or preferred language information, you cannot receive the health education videos.

I SPEAK Card: Template (PDF)
To ask for an interpreter, it is helpful to have a card stating “I Speak _________” in English which language you speak, written by a friend or loved one. Show this card to staff at all health care visits and they will get an in-person or phone interpreter to help you.
